Advocacy & Communications Subcommittee
The Advocacy and Communications Subcommittee works closely with all the other committees and subcommittees to share information both within OPCC and to the legislature, patients and the general public. The Subcommittee is made up of individuals who have a desire to communicate progress and facts as they relate to cancer control. This committee is also responsible for membership functions of OPCC, making recommendations to the Executive Board regarding membership changes.
Goals & Objectives:
- Increase Interest in Cancer Surveillance, Prevention, and Control Activities among State of Ohio Legislators and Organizational Policy Makers to Influence Policy and Systems Changes
I have been cancer-free for 6 1/2 years now. Overcoming all these hardships has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do. It has made me a better person all around. It has strengthened my faith in God and my fellow man. My major recommendation is this: only you know your own body. When something doesn't seem right, pursue it until you are satisfied. It could be the difference between life and death. Early detection is key!
